Construction of the IBM service delivery building began in May and is scheduled to be finished by the end of October. The company intends to hire about 800 workers by 2012 and last month posted on its website about 30 jobs that need to be filled, nearly all of them technical support specialists. No salary information was included.
Little Dixie Construction was given the contract to renovate the 100,000-square-foot building on Lemone Industrial Boulevard and choose the subcontractors for the project. The city bought the building from the Robert M. Lemone Trust for $3 million, and the renovations will cost about $10 million. IBM will use money generated from tax breaks to make $1.3 million in annual lease payments to cover the costs of the financing from local banks.
