EDITOR’S PICKS

UNBOUND BOOK FESTIVAL

This unique, annual festival runs through Sunday, April 23, throughout downtown Columbia. The keynote is a joint effort with Ross Gay and Patrick Rosal, set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Missouri Theatre.

The Unbound planners had this to say about poets Ross and Patrick: “They are two of the most acclaimed and exciting poets of their generation. They are also best friends.”

Books by both authors will be available for purchase at the event and both authors will be signing after the talk.

Ready to get ready for the local FREE book festival? Here’s the schedule!

JAZZ APPRECIATION MONTH

The busy April lineup of local jazz performances continues, but if you waited until now to get your tickets for the Tia Fuller Group @Murray’s on Sunday, you’re out of luck. Both shows are SOLD OUT. COMO’s taste of JAM (Jazz Appreciation Month) is the result of the “We Always Swings” Jazz Series.

JAM is the final stanza for season 28 of the 2022-2023 Jazz Series. The month has already featured The Manhattan Transfer, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and the Joel Ross Good Vibes Quartet.

There are still other, ongoing jazz-listening opportunities:

Tuesdays, 7-10 p.m., Pete Szkolka @ Murry’s, 3107 Green Meadows Way. Live jazz with no cover.

Thursdays, 7-10 p.m., Joel Anderson @ Murry’s. Live jazz; no cover.

Saturdays, 9-11:30 p.m., Tom Andes Trio @ Murry’s. Live jazz; no cover.

Coming up next month: Samara Joy, 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sunday, May 7. “Sundays @ Murry’s”
