Looking for something to do? Here are 33 (or so) things to do in COMO this week — and beyond.  

Coming Up In COMO is a brief peek at concerts, plays, art exhibits, events for families and kids, and more. You may send your event notice to [email protected]. FRIDAY, AUGUST 18 

Come on Barbie, Let’s Go Party (in Rocheport). 6 p.m., Central Street. Event by Southern Provisions Rocheport, Stockton Mercantile, and ART OFF the Trail. Sip ‘n shop at participating shops; selfies in the Mattel Barbie photobooth; walk in the Barbie look-alike fashion show. (Bring your Barbies with you if you’d like.) 

The Fried Crawdaddies at Cooper’s Landing. 6 p.m., 11505 S. Smith Hatchery Rd. 6-9 p.m. Food truck: Lilly’s Cantina, 4:30-9 p.m. 

The Railroad, a new improv tabletop RPG story. 6:30 p.m., Sentinel Park, 1214 Eugenia. Presented by Detect Nerd. Free admission but interactive tipping affects the outcome of the game.  

Odyssey Chamber Music Series. 7 p.m., First Baptist Church, 1112 E. Broadway. Summer music with the IMI musicians of St. Louis. $20 general admission; $5 with student ID; free for kids 12 and under. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 19 

Daylily Sale. 8 a.m., Columbia Farmers Market, 1769 W. Ash St. Priced from $5. Expert advice on selection and planting tips. 

Columbia Farmers Market. 8 a.m.-noon, MU Health Care Pavilion at Columbia’s Agriculture Park, 1769 W. Ash St. 

Train Open House. 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Rock Quarry House, 2002 Grindstone Parkway. The Central Missouri Chapter of the Train Collectors Association is hosting an open house to display model trains and other exhibits the club has built. FREE and open to the public. 

Screentime: Fantastic Mr. Fox. 11 a.m., Ragtag Cinema, 10 Hitt Street. 

Indian Hills Block Party. 12-2 p.m., Indians Hills Park, 5009 Aztec Boulevard. Join Columbia Parks and Recreation for a free event. Face painting, balloons, lawn games, live music, food.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23 

Food trucks roundup at Columbia Farmers Market. 3-7 p.m., MU Health Care Pavilion at Columbia’s Agriculture Park, 1769 W. Ash St. Shop the market and grab an early dinner. 

Artist Talk – Marilyn Cummins. 1-2 p.m., Montminy Gallery at the Boone County History & Culture Center, 3801 Ponderosa Street. Be inspired as Marilyn Cummins shares how her art is a creative outlet for processing experiences—illness, loss, isolation and even new opportunities—and provide a watercolor demonstration. Free and no RSVP required. 

Celebration of the Arts. 6-8:30 p.m., at The Bistro at The Blufftop in Rocheport. Tickets start at $50.

CelebrARTy Fundraiser for Access Arts. Time, 5-7 p.m., The Blue Note, 17 N. Ninth St. The CelebrARTy fundraiser will auction off original art created by eight teams comprised of eight local celebrities and artist pairings. 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 

First Responder Support Resilience Seminar. 11 a.m.-3 p.m., The Crossing, 3615 Southland Drive. This is an event dedicated to fostering the well-being and resilience of local first responders and their significant others.
