Healing Through Diet Reformation

The birth of my second child went smoothly, and for a few days afterward, I enjoyed nursing and cuddling my new baby girl.

Four days postpartum, however, I started experiencing symptoms like extreme nausea, dizziness, numbness, and an overall feeling that I was dying. I was admitted back into the hospital for tests and consultations with my doctors. Four days later, after keeping down a few crackers, my doctors released me to go home.

“The good news is that you’re not dying,” they said. “The bad news is that we don’t know what’s wrong with you.”

For the next few months, I experienced mild symptoms at various times, then the episodes became frequent and intense again. In addition to my original symptoms, I began to have what felt like anxiety attacks at night followed by depression during the days. I didn’t know where to turn.

One day I looked out my window and saw my neighbor, a nurse named Lila, walking her dog. I flagged her down, shared my story, and asked for her advice.

As luck would have it, my story resonated with her.

Lila had recently met another woman with a similar story — a story with a miraculous-sounding ending that involved changing her diet and taking supplements.  Although the solution sounded a little far-fetched, I was ready to try anything and made an appointment with the doctor the next day.

Three days after implementing my new health plan, my symptoms subsided significantly.  This experience inspired me and Lila to form a food support group, where we have met other people with similar health conditions who have been healed with diet reformation.

We also realized that there was a need in our community for sharing this kind of information with more people, which is how the idea of the CoMo Wellness Conference was born.

For our inaugural year, the conference theme is “Good Health Starts with Good Food,” and we’ll feature four expert speakers, including three doctors and a registered dietitian. The speakers will share specific information about how to achieve health and well-being with good food, what “good food” is, and how you can obtain it.

The CoMo Wellness Conference will be held on May 6, 2017 at The Crossing.

Tickets and more information are available at comowellnessconference.com
