Hub and Spoke recieves American Package Design Award
Local creative agency Hub & Spoke was bestowed with an American Package Design Award from Graphic Design USA for its efforts in creating the Rock Bridge Brewing Company Saison beer can design. According to a press release, Graphic Design USA received more than 2,000 entries for the award.
“It was really exciting,” said Dak Dillon, principal and creative director of Hub & Spoke. “It showed we really had a cool thing here. I mean, it’s not every day you get to design a beer can. It was definitely more of a unique project.”
The new can design hit shelves in May 2014, and features art inspired by veteran Curt Bean, who founded the Art of War Project to help returning soldiers deal with PTSD through art therapy according to a press release.
Dillon said the company is currently working on more beer can designs inspired by Bean’s work that are due to premiere later this summer, including one with a whale design inspired by Moby Dick.
“This award gives us more credibility,” Dillon said. “Not a lot of marketing companies can do packaging. Now we are trying to work with more craft breweries.”
In addition to the American Package Design Award, Hub & Spoke was also recognized with four AVA Digital Awards, two Platinum and two Gold, for their website, Visually Columbia web design, a video made for Westminster College and web design for Xxcel Integrated Logistics.
