The War on Weight

The War on Weight

Now I’m not skinny by any means, but I work out on a regular basis. And just how do I fit that into my busy schedule? I schedule it of course!

Like I said I have a busy schedule. Sometimes it’s too busy, so within my schedule I build time to work out. I also like to go to morning classes, but I know that on Wednesdays, right now anyway, that doesn’t work. It’s not the end of the world if I need to go in the afternoon, but I just have to make myself go!

For the month of June and July, I attended Jazzercise. This is a great group fitness option for women in the area. It is fun, and you get a good sweat on while you’re there. I also started training for my second half-marathon that is set for the end of September, the Go Girl KC (Gonna try to go for the Triple Crown Jacket that Ultramax offers). On top of these two work outs, I eat fairly healthy and drink lots of water, but I still struggle on losing weight. How about you?

A few of the things I have tried over the last few months that I feel really make a difference are:

1) Set an appointment in your calendar to work out, or go a step further and schedule a “workout date” with a friend. Even though I know she wouldn’t care if I called to cancel, it helps to hold me accountable.

2) I drink a detox tea several times a week. This helps with the bloating and cleaning out my system. I do feel better when I drink this on a regular basis.

3) Drink a lot of water! I drink about 125-175 ounces of water a day, and yes, I have to pee a lot! Everything I have read says to drink water, and when you are working out, drink more. When you first wake up in the morning, drink a full eight ounces of room temperature water. This seems to get me going.

4) Don’t eat after 7 p.m. This is one of the hardest “rules” for me, but it seems to help. It keeps me on track to not snack and munch on high-calorie foods in the evening. Try adding in an evening walk to get you out of the house.

Of course this is not the perfect plan, but this is what I do to stay healthy. Notice I didn’t say anything about losing weight or cutting fat. We must all remember this is a lifestyle change, and we didn’t gain the weight overnight, so we are not going to lose it overnight either. Keep up the good work, and you will get there. I never thought I would run a half marathon, but I did and I’m gonna do it again!
