Carol Van Gorp is resigning as chief executive officer of the Columbia Board of Realtors to take a similar job in Florida.
Van Gorp has led the organization of about 600 Realtors for seven years, and her last day will be in late April. She will become the CEO of the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches in Lake Worth. The CBOR news release said the Florida association is the 21st largest Realtor association, with 7,382 members.
Kenny Hubble, president of the Columbia Board of Realtors, will be conducting a nationwide search for her replacement.
Van Gorp was born in Louisville, Kentucky, where she got her first professional job with the local Housing Authority. She and her husband later moved to Delray Beach, Florida. She moved to Columbia in 2003 to take the CEO position at CBOR.
“Quite frankly, in Florida, it doesn’t snow in March,” Van Gorp said, adding that they’ve kept their home in south Florida for 27 years. “I’m leaving the organization healthy and vigorous,” she said. “We’ve been able to accomplish quite a bit in seven years.”
