Columbia College to open 35th campus
Columbia College’s will open its 35th campus, nationwide, in Mesquite, Texas, in January 2015.
The college’s newest location will be on the campus of Eastfield College in the workforce/corporate and continuing education building, as part of an academic relationship between the two institutions.
Scott Dalrymple, the president of Columbia College, and Jean Conway, the president of Eastfield College, will be at an open house Thursday, Nov. 6, on the Eastfield campus.
“Columbia College has a long history in the state of Texas,” said Jeff Musgrove, vice president for adult higher education at Columba College. “We have operated on military installations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for nearly forty years. We’re excited to increase our footprint in the great state of Texas.”
The Mesquite campus will offer junior and senior level courses to allow students with an associate degree from Eastfield or another institution to transition into the college’s bachelor’s degree program. Columbia College-Mesquite aims to offer three courses for its January session, and will waive the application fee for Eastfield students.
There will be a focus on criminal justice, human services, general studies and business administration courses. The college also offers more than 20 bachelor and master’s degrees online.
“We’re confident that this partnership with Eastfield College will help us provide quality education to learners in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” Musgrove said.
Columbia College was founded in Columbia in 1851. It’s a private, nonprofit, liberal arts and sciences institution. Eighteen of the College’s campuses are on military installations. Columbia College educates more than 31,000 students each year and has more than 84,000 alumni worldwide.
