Sureshbhai, Nitu and Sheetal Patel opened their second liquor store in Columbia on Sept. 22 at the corner of Providence Road and Ash Street in the former location of Brady Glass. The family also owns Eagle Liquor on Business Loop 70.
“Our business was growing at Eagle Liquor, and we wanted to spread out, so we decided to open another store,” Sheetal Patel said. “We decided to be located centrally because there is more potential business downtown. There’s not really a large liquor store downtown, so we thought this would be a great place to be.”

The family purchased the 16,000-square-foot building in April and renamed it Eagle Plaza. The 4,500-square-foot space vacated by Brady’s Glass was renovated to function as a liquor store. Patel said the family hopes to lease the first floor of the adjacent space to a restaurant or retail business and will convert the second floor space into office suites.
Columbia Liquor is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.
