COLORS kicks off Independents Week

            Mayor Darwin Hindman joined a group of independent business owners at Uprise Bakery on Wednesday to promote local purchasing and proclaim July 1-7 “Independents Week” in Columbia.

            Hindman agreed to take “The Indie Challenge” and shop during the week at locally owned retail stores and use locally owned service providers. Several other prominent Columbians and business owners attended the news conference and are taking  the Indie Challenge.  

            The weeklong event is being coordinated by COLORS (Columbia Locally Owned Retail & Services). The Independents Week finale will be held on July 7, 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Root Cellar downtown and the adjacent Broadway Brewery, which will be opening later this summer.
