EDITOR’S PICKS 

  • The 10th Plowman Chamber Music Competition and Festival runs from Thursday, March 23, to Monday, March 27. The event is co-presented by the First Baptist Church of Columbia, the Missouri Symphony, and the University of Missouri. Get more information and tickets here
  • Compass Inc. presents Violet Vonder Haar at 7 p.m. Saturday, 1107 University Ave. During February, Violet participated in the “Song A Day” songwriter challenge. She will be sharing her favorite songs from the challenge and raising funds for Compass Inc.’s scholarship program, which helps provide music lessons to low-income students. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., Violet takes the stage at 7 p.m. Suggested donation of $10-$20. Find more information here. 
  • As many as 11 gospel music groups will participate in the yearly Spring Sing Gospel Sing from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church, 7461 N. Brown Station Rd. The lineup includes The Liberty Belles, Ambassadors of Grace, Heart to Heart, Judy Todd, and the Messengers, among others. Come for the day or for an hour or two. No admission but a love offering is appreciated. The 12 Baskets food truck will be onsite for lunch. Details

Concert Jazz band concert. Rhynsburger Theatre, 505 Hitt St., 7-8 p.m. Featuring the music of Toshiko Akiyoshi. Free admission. 

Personal archiving and your digital legacy. Columbia Public Library, 100 W. Broadway, 7-8:30 p.m. Our photographs, papers, digital assets and online accounts will eventually need to be taken over by a family member or designated estate manager. In this course, you will learn strategies and techniques for preserving these assets for future generations. Adults. Registration required. 

Dakota Poorman: Best Mistake Tour, with Dan Kerns + Travis Fuetz and The Stardust Cowboys. Rose Music Hall, 1013 Park Ave., 7 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show. $10.

Baby Story Time. Columbia Public Library, Children’s Program Room, 100 W. Broadway, 9:30-10 a.m. and 10:30-11 a.m. For the tiniest library patron, join for rhymes, songs, and fun. Ages birth-18 months with an adult. No registration required.
