The Dos and Don’ts of Wedding Dress Shopping
10 Things to Remember.
- Don’t try on dresses out of your price range
Don’t tease yourself with something you can’t have. Trying on a dress out of your price range will ruin the dresses that you can afford. Keep your eyes focused on your budget.
- Don’t buy a dress that fits the body you want; buy a dress that fits the body you have
Every bride wants to improve their body for their wedding day, but don’t buy a dress to fit a body you don’t have yet.
- You shouldn’t have to convince yourself
You will know the right dress the second you put it on. If you have to talk yourself into a dress, then it’s not the one for you.
- Don’t be afraid to speak your mind
When trying on dresses, your family and friends may love a style that you do not. That’s OK! Don’t be afraid to speak up about what you want.
- Don’t bring an entourage
Bringing family and friends to shop for a wedding dress is always a good idea, but limit the amount of people who tag along. We suggest two to three max; the more people you bring, the more opinions you’ll hear, which can be counterproductive.
- Don’t over-Pinterest
We suggest doing some research before trying on dresses, but there is such a thing as too much. You don’t want to pin so many dress styles that you no longer know what you want.
- Know the dress style most flattering for your body type
Before starting the search for your dress, find out what style dress looks best on you. That way you don’t waste time on a fitting.
- Don’t eliminate a dress at first glance
Always remember that a dress on a hanger is going to be a completely different dress than when it’s actually on you.
- Bring your accessories and heels
If you already have the accessories you will be wearing on the big day, be sure to bring them so you can see the dress as a complete look. Same with your heels. You want to know what your dress will look like with the shoes you plan to wear.
- Come with the makeup and hair that you want for the big day (or at least a cheap version of it)
Same idea as bringing your shoes & accessories. This will help you envision what the dress will really look like on the day you say “I do.”
