We are deeply upset with the atrocities that have been forced upon Black lives in this country. For hundreds of years, black lives haven’t been valued as they should be; they haven’t been afforded the dignity and respect they deserve. Countless times, we have seen images of innocent Black souls being mercilessly stripped away from their communities by those whose duty it is to protect them. We have witnessed how this has caused pain for Black people and left scars that can never be forgotten. But, enough is enough.
COMO Magazine is our community. We treasure our position as an entity that can bring people together for the greater good. Therefore, we stand in solidarity with Columbia’s Black community. We see you. We hear you. We will fight with you. We will fight for you.
In this same manner, we would like to call on every member of our community to stand with the Black community. Whether you’re a health professional, business owner, artist, or church, we’d like you to join us in contributing to the safety and well-being of our Black community. One way we can do this is to support the Black-owned businesses and organizations throughout Columbia. Support Black artists and artisans. Designers and stylists. Leaders and entrepreneurs. Join us as we help strengthen Black economies and communities. Contribute funds, time, and energy to grassroots organizations in town. Celebrate Black history, culture, and our Black community right here in Columbia.
We are in this together, and we will overcome.
