Hawthorn Bank to Open Downtown Banking Center
Hawthorn Bank will open a downtown banking center, COO Kathleen Bruegenhemke announced Friday.
The center will be located on the first two floors of 807 E. Walnut when construction is complete on the five-story building in 18 to 24 months. The building, Plaza 807, is co-owned by Dave Baugher and Matt Beckett. When completed, Plaza 807 will overlook the Boone County Government Center Plaza.
Hawthorn Bank entered the local market in 2007 with a banking center at 1110 Club Village Dr. Columbia market president Todd Hoien says the new downtown location will continue the bank’s mission to serve the small business community with close access to the REDI Innovation Hub in the heart of downtown.
“Our move to open a banking center downtown is both practical and symbolic,” Hoien says. “As our business has grown, we need to grow our staff to best serve our great customers. The second location will allow us to hire more business bankers and lenders, add personal banking staff, and expand our trust and wealth management services.”
This location will be Hawthorn’s 25th in Missouri. The bank has locations throughout central, west, and southwest Missouri and $1.3 billion in assets. Hawthorn is publicly traded on NASDAQ.
Baugher says they’re delighted to have Hawthorn Bank as the building’s anchor tenant. “Hawthorn’s reputation in the banking and business community is stellar, and they bring great value to our office complex,” Baugher says.
