New season. New projects.
I adore spring. The glorious scent of freshly budding flowers wafts into your nose. The vibrant greens, reds, pinks, purples, and yellows shoot up from the ground. Cascading tree limbs burst with abundance. The warmth of the sun on your face cuts its way through the final chills of winter and sends a comforting shiver down your spine. And of course, how can I not mention the adorable resurgence of those cute, fuzzy, little bunnies.
The season is simply divine.
The influx of nature’s color on the outside of your home or office brings about endless opportunities for spring-inspired design on the inside. Whether you are looking for daily elements or accessories to perfect an upcoming event, look no further than the outdoors.
Eggs
Remove the yolk from an egg using the old-fashioned blowing technique. Once the yolks are removed and the egg is cleaned, paint or dye the shell. This is an excellent (notice how I avoided using eggcellent?) activity to do with slightly older children. Display your masterpieces in a basket, glass bowl, vase, or even a wreath.
Sticks
Still have some yardwork left over from the fall? Perhaps a storm has blown down some twigs? There’s a craft for that. Collect any small twigs and branches. You can leave them natural or paint them. Gather them into bundles and tie with a decorative ribbon for an earthy accessory, or incorporate them into a centerpiece or wreath design.
Flowers
Who doesn’t love flowers? Add a touch of elegance to your place settings by incorporating a single stem on top of the napkin or plate. Or use mini planters as a unique namecard holder.
Feathers
With the increase in the bird population, so comes an increase in beautiful, loose feathers on the ground. Collect them and add a touch of beauty to a floral display, a lighting feature, or a desk.
Nuts and Seeds
Gather fallen nuts and seeds such as acorns. They are a great filler for the base of bowls and are easy to paint.
