State revenue department expands online resources

The Missouri Department of Revenue has taken steps to improve access to its services by putting more online.
Here are some online services now offered:

  • Electronic filing of S-corporation and business franchise tax returns through the department’s website, dor.mo.gov
  • License plate renewal at plates.mo.gov: The website was improved to make it more customer-friendly. Since the changes, use of the website has increased more than two and a half times from fiscal year 2009 to FY2010.
  • Change of address registration on the department’s website

Also, because the department has discontinued printing and mailing some forms, reduced the size of others and, converted forms to electronic format, it saved almost $700,000. It has also developed “webinars” or Web-based seminars, to train employees, reducing travel and program costs. Using webinars, the department has provided more than 1,700 hours of employee training.
