Food lovers across mid-Missouri have a new reason to dine out this summer as local organizations launch the first-ever Columbia Restaurant Week (CRW), taking place July 25 through August 3 at dining establishments throughout the city.
The Columbia Chamber of Commerce ambassadors had a ribbon-cutting for CRW Wednesday afternoon inside The Vault at The Tiger Hotel at 23 S. Eighth St. The event aims to spotlight Columbia’s diverse culinary talent, support local businesses, and foster community engagement through food. CRW is a collaborative effort by the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Missouri Restaurant Association, The District, and the Columbia Hospitality Association.
Speakers at Wednesday’s ribbon cutting included Glyn Laverick, CEO of The Tiger Hotel. He noted that CRW will directly support The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri. Laverick added that Columbia’s food scene is “a vibrant tapestry of creativity and passion.”
“For ten days, we get to put an incredible talent in diversity on display,” he said. Restaurant Week is more than just special menus. It’s also a city-wide celebration.
“It’s a chance to discover a new favorite spot, to revisit classics, and to directly support the local chefs and entrepreneurs,” Laverick explained.
A news release from the Missouri Restaurant Association described Columbia as “a city known for its creative kitchens, farm-fresh ingredients, and passionate local chefs.”
During the week and a half long event, more than two dozen restaurants are offering fixed-price menus, showcasing everything from sizzling barbecue and soul food to New York-style pizza, Indian curries, sushi rolls, German comfort food, and bold Cajun-Creole flavors. Whether you’re craving elevated bar bites, homestyle classics, or globally inspired plates, there’s something for every palate. CRW includes two tracks: traditional sit-down restaurants, and a fast-casual program called Counter Culture, highlighting Columbia’s vibrant counter-service scene.
No ticket is required to participate. Diners simply visit any participating restaurant during the event dates and ask for the CRW menu. Menus will be available during normal business hours (varies by location), and reservations are recommended (where available) for table-service establishments.
