Harpo’s Adds ‘The Landing’ to its All-Star Brand
The Landing at Harpo’s officially opens at 7 p.m. this Friday; it’s six steps up from The Atrium.
COLUMBIA – Since its inception in 1971, Harpo’s has been igniting taste buds, quenching thirsts, and creating unforgettable memories for generations of locals, alumni, visitors, and spirited college students alike. Now the beloved Columbia institution is getting ready for the highly anticipated grand opening of its new addition, next door: The Landing at Harpo’s.
The grand opening is set for 7 p.m. Friday, September 15. The Landing at Harpo’s promises an elevated customer experience — quite literally, as it’s six steps up from Harpo’s Atrium and 12 steps up from the newly relocated 10 Below nightclub.
The Landing at Harpo’s at 27 S. Tenth St. is an upscale neighborhood bar designed for after-work cocktails, sports viewing, holiday parties, and business gatherings. It boasts a thoughtfully layered interior featuring warm tones, local art, and luxe materials, evoking thoughts of vintage sporting clubs, meticulously crafted to create a welcoming atmosphere. With an increased seating capacity, state-of-the-art audiovisual systems, and a dedicated events space, Harpo’s is poised to offer an unparalleled entertainment experience.
“It’s truly an elevated experience,” says Harpo’s owner Chuck Naylor. “We’re always looking at opportunities to share our iconic brand and impact the community of Columbia is a positive way. Harpo’s is a brand with an incredible history, and we get pitched a lot of ideas. This one just made a lot of sense with the opportunity to bring a long dormant building back to life downtown with Harpo’s original footprint.”
The expansion project aims to provide an enhanced experience for patrons and further solidify Harpo’s position as a premier destination in Columbia. To that end, Harpo’s announces its new partnership with Jason Paetzold of Bud’s Classic BBQ, who will be operating a new concept, Bud’s Cantina BBQ at Harpo’s.
Bud’s Cantina BBQ will serve an inspired menu that incorporates the craft of BBQ and the bold flavors that Bud grew up with in West Texas.
“It’s not Mexican food, it’s not Tex-Mex,” Paetzold says. “We call it Cantina BBQ.”
