Self Styled: Jackets & Vests
Coats, sweaters, jackets, and vests — the winter is all about layered looks, so take your outfit to the next level by throwing on a furry vest, floral blazer, or trendy sweater. Another awesome thing about layering? You can incorporate some of your favorite spring or summer pieces by reworking them with other seasonally-appropriate items.
We chatted with three local boutiques to see how they’re styling vests and jackets this season.
Cha
Cha store manager Jennifer Pestle elevated a simple Z Supply dress by laying a neutral-color, duster-esque vest. The glam belt, from KM2, pulls together the look and accentuates the waist.
“The Cupcakes and Cashmere vest borders both classy and hip,” Pestle says. “The style of the vest is very trendy, but the subtle ivory color will let even the most conservative shopper take a risk. At Cha, we love being able to cater to every type of customer.”

My Sister’s Circus
“We are loving the longer profile of this faux fur vest from Nic & Zoe,” owner Celeste Hardnock says. “Keeping the look monochromatic lengthens the silhouette and looks effortlessly pulled together and classy.”
Vests are an important layering element for the season. From puffy or furry to structured or flowy, there are many vest styles and textures available to pair with any look.

Muse
“There’s a spring-like floral in the blazer, but it still has the fall or winter feel,” Muse owner Nickie Davis says. “We are also big into mixing vintage items with new ones to make a one-of-a-kind look.”
Muse’s floral blazer is a statement piece and proves that throwing on a jacket can take an outfit from simple to chic.
