The Best Restaurant

This was one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. The food was good, the service was outstanding and the atmosphere was fabulous. I never knew this place existed, but I will never forget it.
The young man greeted us at the table and handed us a clean, easy-to-read menu with about 15 items to choose from. He quickly offered us our choice of about a dozen different types of beverages. After a moment of consideration, we ordered our beverages, and he advised us that our servers would be here shortly with our drinks and would take our orders. I looked at my wife and smiled because he was so professional, and I have a soft spot for professionals no matter what their trade is. This was going to be good.
Before I could even tell my wife how neat I thought this place was, two young ladies of 10 and 12 years old appeared and cheerfully served us our drinks. I already knew what I wanted, but my wife asked for a recommendation. They were happy to offer suggestions, and my wife placed her order. My order was complex because I had a few add-ons and extras that I was sure would be wrong, but I wanted to see how accurate my order would be. They took our orders and never wrote a word down. I was a little nervous about my meal.
Ten minutes later, they returned to our table with our meals. I was speechless. I could not believe the presentation of the food, the taste of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the efficiency. We dined together without lifting a finger (I lifted my fork plenty). The main course was good, but the dessert was incredible. Paired with a cup of coffee, it  just the way I like it. The only thing that felt better than my stomach was my heart.
My fourteen-year-old son came up with the idea of him running a restaurant in our house for family meals. He created a fun menu with some prices (ridiculously cheap) and offered jobs to my daughters. They make between five and ten bucks a day that they split among themselves. They approach it so seriously that it is done well, and they have fun doing it. They are always trying to come up with new ideas for food and service. It is quite amazing.
Besides the obvious skills they are learning, the best benefit to me is that they are taking over the meals, preparation, serving, cleaning  and planning. I am concerned about even speaking of this out loud for fear that I might jinx this most wonderful accommodation. I plan on encouraging this behavior further by buying them some additional props and supplies that will keep the excitement going.
