The Boone Hospital Center’s trustees took a step back in time when they met on May 17.
The board members opened a copper time capsule that was buried in the hospital’s old lobby and will be housed behind glass in the new lobby. The capsule was comprised of three containers with the dates 1921, 1981 and 1996 etched on top.
The 1921 container held editions of area newspapers printed that year. The container from 1981 was full of hospital marketing memorabilia: pajamas for newborns with the then-new “spoon head” BHC logo and a variety of brochures. Hospital staff members will be adding items to a 2011 copper container designed to match the others.
