CBT going mobile

If you’re like most CBT readers, you’re reading this column on paper or on one of your computers.
But that dynamic is changing quickly. If you’re like most American adults, you’ll be getting most of your news on your mobile phone and/or tablet computer in the not-so-distant future.
A survey conducted in January by the Pew Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism showed how quickly local news is going mobile. Here are a few of the findings:
CBT Mobile
Nearly half of all American adults report that they get at least some local news and information on their mobile phone or tablet computer.
What they seek out most on mobile platforms is information that is practical and in real time: 42 percent of mobile device owners report getting weather updates on their phones or tablets; 37 percent say they get material about restaurants or other local businesses.
Just more than half use six or more sources or platforms monthly to get local news and information, and about a quarter report having an application, or app, that helps them get information or news about their local community.
By the end of the month, CBT readers will be able to join that last category.
Delta Systems has developed a website for our publication that’s designed for mobile phone users.
We’ll take all the articles and information and key photos that appear in the print and online versions and compact them for easy mobile reading.
Just visit comomag.com on your smartphone or tablet browser. Once you’re on the site with a mobile device, we’ll have a link showing you how to save a bookmark of the page to your home screen along with the other logos of your apps.
And we’d love to hear what you think about the new CBT mobile — by text message, tweet, email ([email protected]) or the old-school phone call, at 499-1830, ext. 2.
