The Columbia Board of Realtors has chosen auctioneer Larry Atterberry to receive the 2010 Denny Douglas Recognition Award.
The award recognizes Realtors who give their time, energy and money to the community, and in general contribute to enhance the quality of life in the community.
Atterberry became an active auctioneer in 1970 after serving in the Vietnam War and receiving a commendation medal for meritorious service. He owns a real estate company and is the only auctioneer and broker in Boone County to hold a specialized designation known as the Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate. He is a member of the Missouri Auctioneers Association and in 1997 he was inducted into the Auctioneer Hall of Fame for the state of Missouri.
The list of Atterberry’s community service and philanthropic endeavors includes 16 organizations and fundraising campaigns, including the Voluntary Action Center, Coyote Hill Home for Abused Children, Boone County 4-H, Job Point and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
