Columbia College Science Center | Construction Update

Columbia College plans to build a 40,000-square-foot science building where the softball field is now on Rangeline Street.
President Gerald Brouder said on Sept. 24 that the college’s science campaign has raised more than $3 million. The proposed facility is expected to cost about $13 million.
Designs for the building by architects at Simon Oswald Associates include an open atrium with a staircase connecting the two main floors and a 150-seat lecture hall adjacent to the atrium.
Columbia College, which educates more than 28,000 students, has seen a rapid growth in its science program in the past decade. It offers twice as many science programs now than in 2002, and the number of students graduating with a science-based degree more than tripled from 2002 to 2007.
