Moser buys land for grocery store in north Columbia
Roger Moser closed recently on the sale of acreage on Columbia’s northern border and plans to build a grocery store on the site, a representative of the seller said Friday.
The 3.5-acre site on the northeast corner of Range Line and Brown School Road will house Fulton-based Moser’s Foods. The land, purchased from North 763 Lands LLC, a company owned by Rob Wolverton, Ralph Hinnerich, Mark Robb and Phil Blom is part of the group’s Auburn Hill’s commercial development.
While the north side of Columbia’s population has grown substantially in recent years, residents north of Interstate 70 lacked a convenient grocery store option.
“Columbia’s Northern residents will now have a new and convenient alternative to grocery shopping,” said Rob Wolverton of R. Anthony Development. The area around the planned grocery store is poised for substantial growth. The Missouri Department of Transportation is widening Range Line and Highway 763 and the city is planning to make improvements to Brown School Road west of Range Line to Providence Road.
In addition to local Moser’s store on Business Loop 70, the company has seven locations throughout Fulton, Holts Summit, Jefferson City, Warrenton and Ashland.
