INTERIORS by Decorating Den offers national decorating services to local clients

One look at the home-based office of INTERIORS by Decorating Den shows customers what they can expect from the interior-design franchise’s owners, Janet Chance-Hetzler and TammyBurgher.

The team works out of Chance-Hetzler’s home in Lake Arrowhead Estates, an ornate 8,000-square-foot French Country manor built in Southern Boone County by Chance-Hetzler and her husband, award-winning builder David Hetzler, and decorated with elaborate ceiling murals, interior wall painting, detailed woodwork, custom features created by local craftsmen, style-appropriate antique furnishings and painstaking attention to detail. It’s the seventh home the couple has built together.

Burgher is no stranger to the construction business herself. Her husband also is a builder, and she has both helpedhim in the business and worked as a property manager. She has decorated spec homes her husband’s company has built, as well as the couple’s own homes.

Burgher and Chance-Hetzler, who opened shop in April, said they chose to buy the franchise instead of opening an autonomous new business because the national chain provides pre-existing relationships with more than 200 suppliers of name-brand products, allowing clients to purchase items directly from the company and forego the design fee. The fee waiver, coupled with the variety in supplies, means the designers can create interiors to suit a wide range of budgets, Chance-Hetzler said.

Another plus: INTERIORS by Decorating Den offers ongoing training for franchise owners, which helps decorators to keep up with the latest trends.

The national company has partnered with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Through a fund-raising program called Decorating for a Difference, designers hold seminars for the public, and funds from attendance fees go to the foundation to help support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. The local franchise of INTERIORS by Decorating Den incorporated such a seminar into its Aug. 9 grand opening celebration at the Grand Cru, with funds benefiting the newly formed local Komen chapter, the Mid-Missouri Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
