On The Homefront

Slyman Bros Appliances has invited the community to a grand opening event from May 1 to May 4 at the still-new showroom and warehouse at 1801 Westfall Dr. The store, which opened in November, represented the company’s first expansion outside of St. Louis in 60 years. Grand opening customers get 10 percent off current prices on select models and a chance to win a $2,500 shopping spree. Other prizes include Mizzou football home opener tickets, gift cards to the Tiger Team Store, and a variety of other gifts and prizes. There will be a special meet and greet with Truman the Tiger from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 2.

The Columbia Parade of Homes is set for Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. on both days. The Home Builders Association’s (HBA) home tour event highlights the craftsmanship and work of the region’s top builders, offering homebuyers, design enthusiasts, and curious neighbors the opportunity to see cutting-edge home construction, discover the latest trends in interior design, and view sustainable building practices. Go to https://www.columbiahba.com/parade-of-homes for details.

The 2026 HBA Home Show is also on the horizon, coming up August 29-30 at Columbia Mall. The show will display hundreds of home renovation pros, builders, cabinetry experts, landscapers, interior designers, and home furnishers.
