Wedding Planning Timeline

It’s no secret that planning a wedding requires a lot of organization and planning. Below is a detailed timeline to ensure you don’t miss any steps on the road to your big day.
One year out…
- Set a date
- Set a budget
- Decide if you’ll hire a wedding planner
- Find someone to officiate
- Start looking for a venue
- Start the guest list
- Form your wedding party
7 Months out…
- Make save the dates
- Create a wedding website (if you decide you want one)
- Register for gifts
- Arrange transportation
- Find a caterer
- Find and book a florist
- Book a photographer
- Determine if you want a DJ or a band and start looking
- Find bridal party attire
- Say yes to the dress! (along with a veil and shoes)
5 Months out…
- Send out save the dates
- Finalize guest list
- Create invitations
- Finalize plans for rehearsal dinner
- Reserve rental items for ceremony and reception
3 Months out…
- Send invitations
- Shop for wedding rings
- Order a wedding cake (don’t forget the topper!)
- After the 90-day mark, acquire a marriage license
- Purchase a guest book
- Find hairstylist and makeup artist
7 Weeks out…
- Order the groom and groomsmen’s tuxedos
- Bridal shower
- Finalize the menu for the reception
5 Weeks out…
- Create seating plan for reception
- Print out seating cards
- Final dress fitting
- Find your somethings old, new, borrowed, and blue
- Finalize details with all venders
1 Week out…
- Mani/pedi
- Confirm arrival times with venders
- Bachelorette and bachelor parties
- Set aside checks and tips for venders
Day of…
- Confirm all venders have followed through
- Relax
- Get married — congratulations!
