Boone County named top ten in tech— again
Boone County’s IT department has been on an impressive run in the last decade. Last week, the Center for Digital Government recognized Boone County for exceptional success in information and communications technology, placing the county fourth for their population group.
The CDG names the top 10 counties in each population bracket every year, and 2015 marks the 10th time in 11 years that Boone County made the list. Boone County falls in the 150,000 to 249,999 segment.
The CDG, in association with the National Association of Counties, has conducted the self-report survey for 13 years. Counties can report to the association with examples and evidence of their IT effectiveness, and a panel of judges then weighs submissions. The judges also consider a county’s progress, priorities, commitment to collaboration and evidence of innovation before making the selections.
“Counties across the country are harnessing technology to enhance services, maximize efficiency and make money,” said Matthew Chase, executive director of the NACo. “The digital county survey recognizes county innovation that strengthens communities and builds a stronger America.”
Karen Miller, District I commissioner, and Jason Warzinik, GIS Director, will accept the award at the 2015 annual NACo Conference and Exposition.
