The Tiger Hotel welcomes summer with new additions
The Tiger Hotel was recently awarded AAA’s Four Diamond Hotel recognition, with the accolade coming shortly after the hotel opened its new nightlife destination, The Industry.
This is The Tiger Hotel’s third consecutive year of Four Diamond recognition. Since being bought by new ownership in 2011, the hotel has been renovated to restore a historic look with modern amenities. The 62-room hotel has been recognized as a top hotel by numerous travel sites.
“The Tiger Hotel has been a labor of love,” said Glyn Laverick, CEO of Columbia Hospitality Management, the hotel’s owning company. “I am thrilled that our efforts are paying off. Patrons who come to us from all around the world are pleasantly surprised to find a boutique hotel of this caliber in Columbia. It’s all about our people.”
While celebrating their third consecutive designation, The Tiger Hotel is also reveling in its newest entertainment addition. The Industry, located at the rear entrance of the hotel, provides both indoor and outdoor seating, a stage for live music and a bar area for cocktails and networking. Its hours are Wednesday 5:00 to 11:00 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., and Sunday 3:00 to 10 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to provide something to Columbia’s professional community that is fresh and exciting, but with a dignified air,” said Millie Lovett, entertainment and programing director at The Tiger Hotel.
But The Industry isn’t the only hotel addition receiving attention. Glenn’s Café, a traditional American and Creole restaurant owned by the hotel, opened a new patio seating area. Shaded by a huge umbrella and ample plant life, this new outdoor section sits adjacent to the restaurant’s 8th Street entrance.
