Latin American craft store opens downtown
La Feria is bringing the beauty of authentic Latin American craftsmanship to Columbia. The store recently opened downtown and offers crafts and artwork made by artists in Latin America.
Pablo Araujo established La Feria with the objective to spread the beauty of Latin American crafts and artwork. He had been exposed to Latin American artwork and crafts while growing up in Bolivia and Mexico City, and wanted others to appreciate Latin American artwork.
“I went to school for a graphic arts and marketing degree and during my studies I found that people always thought of Europe as an arts’ destination even though Mexico and South America could be a great alternative,” says Araujo, “the level of craftsmanship in Mexico and Latin America is amazing. My goal is to search for the best artwork possible to bring back to Columbia so that the general perception of Latin American art could change in a positive way.”
Araujo travels to Latin America, builds relationships with artists and then brings their crafts and artwork back to Columbia. He believes in only selling the highest quality of crafts and fine art.
La Feria offers high-quality crafts from Latin America such as pottery and blown glass from Puebla, Mexico. The prices of merchandise range from a shot glass made from blown glass at $6.50 to $3,000 artwork. The average price for the artwork at La Feria is between $100 and $200.
La Feria is currently open in Alley A in downtown Columbia. The store is currently open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, but that is subject to change.
