MFA Oil CEO honored by White House

Jerry Taylor, CEO of MFA Oil, was one of nine individuals honored April 19 at the White House as Champions of Change for exemplary work in clean energy.

The Champions of Change program was created as a part of President Barack Obama’s Winning the Future initiative.

“Supporting homegrown sources of renewable energy is a key part of the president’s all-of-the-above energy strategy to create jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and strengthen national security,” said Nancy Sutley, chairwoman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality. “The leaders we’ve selected as Champions of Change are helping to grow our economy, reduce pollution in our communities and position America as a world leader in clean energy.”

Taylor said it was an honor to represent MFA Oil, MFA Oil Biomass and Aloterra Energy in receiving the White House’s recognition. “Our biomass effort has been a great example of cooperation with The United States Department of Agriculture, Farm Service Agency, the Biomass Crop Assistance Program and the farmers that are taking the risk to participate in this program,” he said.

MFA Oil entered the renewable fuels markets in the 1960s when it purchased an ethanol plant to make gasohol. The company currently invests in oil refining and biodiesel production.

Taylor also appeared before an agriculture, energy and trade subcommittee hearing April 26 regarding small businesses that focus on advanced biofuels.
