Mortgage company to help build home for veteran

By Veteran’s Day this November, there will be one more house in Columbia, this one built specially for a former service member.
In February, VAMortgageCenter.com donated $60,000 to Show-Me Central Habitat for Humanity for the organization’s Veteran Build Project, which will build a new home for a veteran in honor of Veteran’s Day. Current and former members of the military with low income can apply for a no-interest loan from the Mid-Missouri chapter of Habitat for Humanity and help build their new home.
But like all Habitat projects, the borrower must be willing to invest his or her labor in the project and pay down the loan so the organization can continue to provide affordable housing.
VAMortgageCenter, com, one of Columbia’s fastest growing companies and largest employers, specializes in home financing for veterans by providing loans backed by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
“VAMortageCenter.com is very passionate about the two things that we are trying to accomplish with this project, which is giving active duty soldiers and veterans of this community the joy of home ownership and giving back to the community,” said CEO Nate Long in a statement.
VAMortgageCenter.com employees will also help build the home by donating their time on Fridays and Saturdays, according to a release from Habitat for Humanity.
“We are humbled by VAMortgageCenter.com’s generous donation of money and volunteers to work on this home with our local Habitat affiliate,” said Chris Lunn, Show-Me Habitat board of director president. “It is further an honor to be able to build a home for a local veteran who has served our country.”
