The federal government has chosen Primaris, a local non-profit health care consulting firm, to continue providing services as the Medicare quality improvement organization for Missouri.
This is part of a three-year, $13.2 million investment on the part of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to improve health care services statewide.
As the quality improvement organization, Primaris is responsible for reviewing Medicare-related medical complaints, discharge appeals, hospital admissions and quality of care concerns. In 2007, the company responded to 7,000 inquiries.
