Former Tiger running back may seek Hulshof’s seat
The Missourinet is reporting that former Missouri Tigers and Detroit Lions running back Brock Olivo may run for Congress in the Ninth District. Olivo was drafted by the Lions in 1998 and played five years in the National Football League. He worked as a program manager and assistant political liaison in Washington and later worked as an international business consultant in Italy.
Missourinet reports that Olivo, 31, recently returned to Columbia and has been asked to consider running for the seat being vacated by Republican U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof. Olivo, who would run as a Republican, told Missourinet that he would be a citizen-politician, with the emphasis on citizen.
Olivo said he’ll spend the weekend with family and friends in Hermann before making a decision on whether to run. Hulshof is running for governor against Jay Nixon.
